The Medical Assistants at BackFit Health + Spine clinics are responsible for assisting the Physician Assistants and completing medical tasks outlined below. BackFit Health + Spine shall provide the necessary training courses, seminars, and continuing education at no cost to the employee. The Medical Assistant is also responsible for assisting the Chiropractic assistants and office manager with additional tasks on down time.
The Medical Assistants are required to wear black scrubs with BackFit Health + Spine logo. Employee is responsible for the purchase of the uniform, and the company embroiders the logo.

- Patient Education- Helping patients understand the chiropractic approach as a better way to improving overall health.
- Patient Management- Schedule patients, answering phones, collecting fees, directing patient flow and answer patient questions.
- Assist with any additional duties required by the Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness within the office.
Supervision Received
The Medical Assistant reports to the Manager at each BackFit Health + Spine clinic and the Director of Medical Operations. If they are not available then the Medical Assistant would report to the Clinic Director. However, if the Clinic Director is not available then the Medical Assistant would report to Director of Clinical Operations.
Duties and Tasks
- Responsible for organizing patient appointment schedule each day and keeping PA updated on status of each appointment.
- Responsible for rooming patients, taking vitals, and getting patient medical history.
- Case manages patient charts and intakes.
- Recommend our services, educate patients, and offer products.
- File patient records, make follow up calls to patients and follow up on any referrals.
- Scrub superbills and answer any questions from corporate.
- Assist Manager with filing and tracking insurance claims as well as outstanding receivables from other patients.
- Assist with any additional duties required by the Manager.
- Cross-train with other departments of the clinic.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the office.
- Attend all required trainings and meetings.

All offices have a pre-shift meeting 30 minutes prior to each shift. All staff members are expected to be at these meetings.
